Azerbaijani National Association in Sweden In cooperation with Women's Day held a ceremony in Gothenburg on 6th March 2011. This ceremony was attended by 80 women, it lasted four hours. International Women's Day occurs on March 8 every year and draws attention to gender inequality and women's situation worldwide. The day is also celebrated by the United Nations (UN) and in many countries it is a national holiday. International Women's Day was instituted in 1910 by the world socialist organization Second International at the initiative of Clara Zetkin. 1977 the UN adopted a resolution recommending a general celebration of an international women's day.
The day has different meanings in different countries. In many places it has lost its political meaning and instead become a day when men attention, or expressing their love to the woman, in the spirit of Mother's Day or Valentine's Day. In others days kept its political character as it focuses on women's struggle for equal rights and the gender inequality that exists in society.

She informed that Azerbaijan National Association will hold a bake cake contest and celebration of New Year. Afterwards efsane Bilgin, in turn congratulated the Women's Day to Azerbaijani women, she talked briefly about women's struggle for their rights in Azerbaijan. At this meeting Mrs Akhtar was reading poetry is currently attracting the attention of the participants. This meeting ended with those present thanked the Azerbaijani National Association.
